Storm of My Heart

Memories Are my enemy I wish this heart could forget The pain that it’s known won’t let it feel joy yet Without living in the past of when joy led to pain It lives in the fear of you walking away Every time that you turn around to look out the window Every time you open the door to feel the wind blow All that it feels is that door closing and you’re on the other side That window that you never look back from because you needed to fly And you tell me to relax, but I just don’t seem to hear I know that I love you and it only brings me tears Because I know now there is no going back My heart is yours and weak enough to break in your hands You say I haven’t lost you yet but I’m gripping so tight In fear of only the thought that soon I just might The more you give to me, the more that I take I have an obsession with mending things that have yet to break Some tell me I’d be wonderful if I’d only stop worrying I could take things slow if I’d only stop hurrying So I apologize if I run from rain in fear of the storm I hold you so tight because I fear losing that warmth Maybe with time I’ll learn to relax But for you to wait ‘til then, I can not ask This is not your burden, this is not your plague That every time you turn around, I feel the rain
