Before the Storm there is Light
I lived in a bubble.
The transparent surface letting me see the sun.
But yet it's harsh rays never harmed me.
The bubble wouldn't let it.
Months passed before my eyes,
Blurring together into a single day.
But yet this never alarmed me.
For the bubble was protecting me from change.
I grew older.
As the days passed, the bubble's shell seemed to thin.
Emotions seeped through the walls.
Fear consumed me.
Why didn't the bubble protect me?
The days in the world slowed,
Making their problems my own.
The bubble began to crack.
Panic set in,
As I began to sink.
No longer above the problems I ignored.
Soon I was on the ground,
Shadows of other that have fallen surrounded me.
My head filled with new ideas,
New realities,
New fears.
The Bubble could no longer protect me.
I was all alone...
But other emotions followed.
The shadows surrounding me became clearer,
Their faces smiling.
My heart felt light.
A chuckle escaped my throat,
As did my voice.
I joined the shadows,
Fear becoming joy,
Sorrow becoming excitement,
And anger becoming love.
I thank the bubble,
For protecting me as long as it did.
But I must be on my own now,
To follow a path unbroken,
Into the wilderness unknown.
For every journey is only as great as it's ending.
