The Storm Withered Within
Thunder rolls in the distance
The rain leaves a trail as it runs down the window
A face slightly revealed by the curtain peeks though
With a hand placed on glass
The clock marks the time
Tick tock tick tock
Endless minutes creep by
Time lapses into space marked only by the beating of one heart
Watching, waiting, hoping to see the daylight
Hoping to see the sun poke its rays of hope and freedom through the trees of confinement
Hoping to find the trail that leads to a meadow of love and happiness
With caution the door opens
All that can be heard is the creaking door and the breathing of a shadowed figure
The sounds of living things beckon to the soul inside the heart of the woods
Nature all around yet the soul is so lonely
This soul is longing for the one that was supposed to come
But left out in the rain, rejection is all that came
Life's unconscious burning dies down to embers of death
The yearning for another is too great, too strong
The heart of a woman is left by all
