The Storm's Melody
It froths and churns like an angry beast
Lightning splits the sky in furious streaks
Rain falls from above in sheets
This is the song of the storm.
And as it falls upon my roof
Drops act like they're aloof
teasing that they'll stay put
This is the behavior of the storm.
A wind takes out my candle's flame
It screams and howls against the windowpane
The thunder rumbles and rattles my brain
This is the horrid beauty of the storm.
So when this animal's rage dies down
There is only a dripping sound
I walk out of my home to see the clouds
Disappear, but to return again.
This performance of nature was quite nice
The storm, while frightening, did surprise
and now as I watch the sunrise
I shall remember the storm's melody.
