The Story Of My Life

Remembering my old days

when I was a child

Rapping music with my friends

Enjoying my  life

I was happy living a merry  life

Taking blessings from elders

And flying in the sky

But one day everything get destroyed

My wings being cut off  and I saw in the sky

The sky is dark, the air is damp

Bombs light the sky yellow, red and white

With my heart becoming a dim light

I continue to march on until the race is won

As I already lost my family and friends

Sierra Leone had a big famine

I pass the corpses

I pass the shadows

I pass the crying widows

I lost my childhood

I lost  my world

Left with only hope

To  survive on earth

I joined the millitary with RUF

As I become selfish to live my life

Every weapon we had went off

Striking down hope to everyone we met

Until I met my enemy with strength in his eyes

In them I saw….

In them I wept.

He whispered: 'Have no doubt

One day we can work this out

Tonight, maybe we are going to run

And dream of when the morning comes.'

But I knew this is a distorted and unfeasible

I started taking drugs

Brainwashed myself completely

I put my hands in

To make the world dehumanized

Love and compassion changed my life

Which turned me human from beast

That  once I desire

 I let down my gun

I dare not fire upon my brother, my son

Raising a hand, lighting fires

With blazing souls burning with desires

I know the sky could be blue

I know the bombs could slumber

I don’t mind

But it was too late

Until I can make  refine

This is what the story of my life.
