Story to Now

Just another little girl

At recess in third grade.

Wondering why she's all alone,

Doesn't anyone want to play?

She finds joy in other kids,

The ones others usually reject.

But she knows how it feels

So she treats them with respect.

She tries to stand up for herself,

But after a while she quits.

For one can only try so much,

Before they start to slip.

A few years later in junior high

That same girl looks for a friend.

Someone who will be her partner,

Without pushing her to her end.

Once again she finds someone,

A girl with special needs.

She starts to finally feel the pride,

And she knew what she wanted to be.

Now she's a senior in high school,

And she knows what she needs to do.

She need to go on to teach,

And give hope to kids, too.
