The Story of a Pet

For years my parents have beat me.

They kick me,

Hit me,

Hurt my heart.

I tried to beg them,

Plead them,

To stop.

But they never listen to me.

They tell me they hate me

They tell me I’m bad

They tell me I’m the worst thing they’ve ever had.

But I cannot leave them,

I love them too much.

So I will just sit here

And wait

Until they love me too.
