Strained and Veined

Listen quiet and you will hear, especially when you are with fear. The palpitations that follow one another as do soldiers in line, you cannot help but wonder is it mine? That creak outside your window or the thump upon the door, make you grasp your breath as your heart begins to roar. Your face becomes white as a corpse in rigor and all the sudden your eyes trace out a figure. Your veins start to constrict, hands saturated in perspiration, and your heart begins to scream for some consolation. As the stranger is approaching you then see, something that could not be. Trapped in your own subconscious you become a slave, unable to do anything brave. Your heart is in one place, but your mind in another. All the sudden you are awakened by your mother.
