Stranded
Alone on an island, forgetting everything outside
Days and ages go by losing track of time
Golden sand with mirror water reflect a humble hovel.
Not a worry anymore, it's just i (and me).
Free to do with what I please.
From the corner of my eye I spy something to my delight.
An "old salt" sailing on his boat shouting "come here, come here"
Moving quite fast extinguished the signal flame.
My heart raced far and near.
Dry tongue wet again to meet another mouth and ear.
On board I jumped to get first glimpse of him.
Emulating me he stood there, my eyes lying to me.
Not a word spoken, but much was said.
Winds change, skies darken, his back gazing at me.
Dread started to spread like mold on bread.
Without speaking he said to me "au revoir"
Overboard I fell, six yards out.
Black all about illuminated by flashes of light
Striking in all spots that aren't right.
Wave punch the shore stranding me there for the night.
I wake the next morning groggy and distraught.
There I broke my sandy womb
The storm still fresh in my mind as if it was a dream.
I stare at the sun to burn his face from memory.
As I look around I see everything still stands.
A fresh thought popped in my mind
"Things still stand and I'm not dead!"
I must start the signal fire again.
My mind and soul clash
While my lips sing
"I know there'll be some way
When I can swing everything back my way
Like a skyscraper rising up
Floor by floor, I'm not giving up" (1)
