Stranded at sea

Stranded, unaccompanied, alone on this island
Staring at the waves that are controlled by Poseidon.
Warm air caressing my body from the distant horizon.
One item I would bring? This might be surprising.

To eat, provide shelter and put me out of harms way.
Using this item for good is a hard message to convey
Although Hamlet, the prince used this item against Laertes to slay.
I just want to survive, and be able to make it back home one day.

Stranded, unaccompanied, alone on this island.
I've spotted a boat, I started yelling and crying.
Save me! Save me! Take me home, I'm dying!
They came my way, and asked, "how are you surviving?"

I pulled out my item, the guy yelled "oh lord!"
I ask if there was room for one just me, no more.
They all ran back to the ship and the captain said "all aboard!"
My one item scared them away, it was a sword.
