The Stranger I Call Myself

How will I ever come to know

this stranger I call myself?

I look in the cracked mirror,

but I am given only an empty reflection.

But is it really empty?

I simply wish to test the limits of my mind,

to climb to the cliff of my imagination,

then dive deep into the sea of my thoughts,

discovering parts of me like hidden treasure,

but what if I drown?

I want to race through the galaxies of my head,

to discover my own secret universe.

A world of my own creation

lies inside my beating heart.

But first I must learn;

what is my heart beating for?

Too long; I think,

too long have I been dwelling in my own mediocre existence.

But how can I possibly hold others close

When I can barely hold myself together?

So for now,

I will attempt to unlock the secrets;

of this stranger I call myself.

I'm not exactly a poet, I simply enjoy writing for the thrill of the universe in the palm of my hand.
