Stranger to you now

Dear Stranger,

You were not always a stranger.

I see you walking by

You refuse to meet my eye.

It’s like there never was a time I’d hold you when you cry.

But in that time of dark, you handed me your heart

And I thought that someone better could safekeep it.

You told me your dreams

Of darkness and schemes,

A way to end it all, to hurt yourself and me.

You let the razor fall, I couldn’t stop it.

I wore your secrets safe inside a locket.

Until the fear inside

Grew too large to hide

When you said you wished to share your pain with me.

And so I called for help

For you and for myself

In doing so, I lost your trust, our friendship crumbled into dust.

They took you away

To make you okay

To take away your want to hurt the world.

So now the years have past

You love yourself at last

And accept my fate to be a stranger.
