STRANGERS

When I find you, I wonder what my first thought will be.

It can be a variety of things,

Knowing my luck it’ll probably be at some dead-end highway

I’ll get out of my car and smile,

Knowing that this was supposed to happen.

Knowing that it’s been you

You’ve been waiting for this moment, too

Wondering when you’ll meet me, the stranger who lives outside of your dreams

What I’ll look like

The sound of my voice.

I’ve been thinking about you too, stranger

If only this were a nightmare because at least if it ends up badly I could always wake up

Unfortunately that’s the only luxury that evolves in our minds

One day I’ll realize I’ve met every single part of you, after all of that waiting

And I’m scared,

That I won’t feel a thing.
