Strangers on a Plane

I was not prepared. Leaving was even more daunting than arriving, especially since leaving was permanent, and unfortunately for the young man seated on my left, I was still not finished weeping. My lack of sleep and my dismal state combined with my aerophobia, and put me on the brink of hysteria. I wanted to tell the young man everything. Tell him that I was leaving my closest friends, that I had never ridden a plane, and that now I was alone, and sad, with him as my only comfort. He glanced at me, put in his head phones, took out his book, and made it obvious that he was not my friend, and that I should try to cry more quietly.
