Strayhorn’s Smooth Jazz

Piano… caressing us a mood

Upright bass… grinding away

Funky horn… screams in the night

Passions… dancing like a dirty cabaret

"Lush Life" playing as raptures begin

A rainbow's pot of gold in your eyes

The needle clicks away the records end

As city lights give way to the suns’ slow rise

Looking out the window, I see Harlem slowly come to life

Your reflection laying there looking like me

I flip the record and close my eyes

"After All" crackles to life, telling me I am who I'm supposed to be....
