Street Anthem

STREET ANTHEM Oh! Our leaders May our votes uphold thee We lay all our life on the streets Forever as we eat rubbish And wear rugs and sleep on the streets. Attention!! Yes sir! At ease!! Atteeeeeeention!!! Abooout turn!! Abooout turn up!! How are you my fellow CHOKORA? We are our leader's ladders Sir!! We are grateful for that "blessing" ok!? Yes sir!! Now, make up straight lines According to your departments As assigned by our leaders. All beggers, stand here! Rubbish pit scavengers, here! Next, "robbers" and "snatchers" here!! Ah!, Where are the "slaves"? Come and line up over there! Lastly, those who are going to the"market" To"buy" for us some more expensive suits, be here! At eeeease!!, Attention Abooout turn! Abooout turn up! Yes sir.........!!! Atteeeeeeention!- At eeeease! Alert! Welcome back from your "duties" Thank you sir!! As your chief street CHOKORA, I have an announcement to make. Yes sir!, We are attention Sir!! "As earlier on informed Our"leaders are bound to visit us Any moment from now "WHEN MIGHT THAT BE SIR, we are curious?" Ok probably on the campaign day- They are bringing"good news" from the HEADQUARTERS Therefore,as usual, Expect numberless bags of seasoned lies To keep you excited and appreciative, Innumerable trucks of well cooked promises, To keep your "beloved" hearts expectant, And the usual 1,000 shillings, To keep you drunk and "Rich" For the next few five years of service Dear brethren, This time round work even more harder: To keep their toilets hygienic and healthy, To escort their children to powerful schools So that they can get better jobs to impoverish You as much as they need- To keep their Prados, macedez and pajeros ever clean, To guard their gates from danger, To cook healthy delicious food for their dogs, So that services can come closer to your doors. Yes sir! Understood sir!! Atteeeeeeention! Alert!, sing the last stanza. Yes sir.....!!! First clear your throats for clarity. Ok sir! Ngoorr!! Ngoorr!! Oho! Oho! Ok!, you can now sing. Oh! Our Leaders!! We are highly disappointed in you, Not only us But also the ALMIGHTY GOD Who sees you from Heaven above. Therefore as you embark back here, Order for the most expensive coffins, Buy enough hoes and hire gravediggers, Because we have MOBILIZED enough VOTES To send you back to your"graves" For you are the kind of leaders Our societies"DESIRE" forever. For we shall always stand. For GOD and my life. Tr EMMA CHIPUKIZI 0787050916-0750122685 THE NABENDE WRITING FAMILY “Education made our eyes sprout”
