Street Lights
I wish someone would
hold me while I
break down.
I wish I was held tighter.
So I knew I wasn't alone.
I don't need words to be
spoken.
Just the presence is needed.
Just knowing
I'm not alone.
It's always worse at night,
when the world slows down,
streetlights are on
and there's no distraction
from the way I feel
to loosen up.
I don't want to disappear as a person.
I want the numbness
and emptiness
to go away
and leave
me
alone
for at least
one time.
That's all I'm asking for,
one moment.
Not one year
not one month.
One moment.
