Strength

My dear niece

Things are tough right now

But you are strong

Things are tough right now

But you are loved.

I love you, my niece

You are my light in the dark.

You're my family now

Our bond is like steel

I will always be there for you

you will always be there for me.

We are connected in a strange way

My aunt and I were too

But now she's gone

and now she lives in you

I want to be the aunt she never got to be.

before the drugs took her life

before she strayed from the path

I will protect you from harm help you guard your heart from pain

and if all I can do is listen...

I will do it.

All I know is...

you will be coming home.

AmaraTheWarrior

Hello, my name is Anne-Marie. Welcome to my profile. I like to think of myself as a writer and advocate for mental health and invisible illnesses. Part of me struggles with my faith on a daily basis because of my sexual orientation. So a lot of my poetry is about coping with that and my health on a day-to-day basis. I don't define myself with my sexual orientation or my health struggles but they are a part of me; there's no denying that. I love to write dark science fiction about dystopic futuristic landscapes. I like to write strong female leads with a lot of emotion and feeling to them. I truly live, breathe, and enjoy writing. Thank you for reading this
