Strength in Femininity

I can see the derision in their eyes

“What are they doing here?” they never say but I always hear

Aren’t they a little too… much?

But just because we wear makeup on our faces and curls in our hair

that does not make us any less

Less intelligent

Less hardworking

Less worthy of respect

Less capable of success

Our femininity is not a handicap

Our femininity is not for you

The clothes on our bodies do not discredit

The thoughts inside our heads

The laughs from our mouths do not diminish

The sincerity behind our words

And a woman without a man is like a fish without a bicycle

But a fish without a bicycle

doesn’t get a bicycle

shoved down it’s throat every two minutes
