The Strength of a Pen

The pen in her hand works better than the tongue in her mouth.

She was always afraid to say the wrong thing,

But when she's writing, she can take it back.

Erase it.

Cross it out.

Press the Backspace and delete.

It's as if the words were never in existence.

The pen may or may not be mightier than the swoard,

But it's smarter than the mouth.

The pen knows how to be silen,

Where the mouth sometimes won't shut.

The pen forces her to think about the words she's putting on the page,

When speaking let's her say words controlled by emotion, some of which she will regret.

So she'll sit in the back, cautious of the words she says

With a journal in her lap and a pen in her hand.

That's how she tells the truth.

Her pen's written words are the only way to know her thoughts.
