The Strength Of a Smile

She's the girl in the hall with her head towards the ground,

A little smile on her face makes you wonder what she thinks.

Was there a boy, or a flower, a joke, or a tale?

No.

There was a trial.

Not one of those moments so cute, or so sweet

Just a decision to excel, not retreat

That's why a smile is gracing her face.

Her heart's torn and bleeding

Yet she's stitching it up

With the strength found within her she's not giving up.

Her chin's tilting upward

They can't keep it down.

With a last burst of courage

The grin reaches her eyes.

Her smile, that grin; vitality and vim

Reaches out to a stranger, all withered within

And the process of theat girl begins,

All again.
