Striking a balance

Happiness

Many things can bring joy to ones life.

Exploring love,

Family,

Friendships.

The warm feeling of stability and

Kindness,

Security,

Faultless Belonging.

These feelings have been many times sought after.

Craving,

Coveting,

Requiring.

Humankind feels the need to be joyful,

With no cause,

No reason,

No hope.

An opportunity at real happiness, most consider must be taken.

Or chance losing the one thing the planet together as one desires.

Sadness

Multiple things evoke sorrow in ones life.

Crumbling dreams,

heartache

Isolation,

The bitter feeling of regret and

Grief,

Mourning,

Complete desolation.

This discomfort has often been denied its existence.

Rejection,

Incredulity,

Refusal.

Society feels the necessity to ignore tribulation.

Despite the reason,

Despite the occasion,

Due to assumption.

Assumption that one is weak or powerless when sad.

An assumption that must be eradicated.

Striking a balance

Two things that in so many ways seem contrasting

One we crave,

The other is considered repulsive.

Both a major part in our lives.

Happiness is a place of safety for most,

A feeling that is pleasing,

Comfortable,

Irresistible.

Sadness is a place of fear for most,

A feeling of loneliness,

An absence of security,

A shaky discomfort we try to avoid.

However we must realize,

By avoiding this,

We also avoid ourselves.

We avoid challenging our minds,

We avoid trying in fear of failure,

We avoid love in fear of heartbreak,

We avoid everything,

That truly makes up happy.

Happiness being such a blissful thing,

It seems we as beings,

Would accept it.

But in rejecting sadness,

We reject every chance of happiness.

Must we be so contradicting?
