Striving to Write

Words have always been the beat to my heart,
Phrases flowing out of me like blood,
Holding in rhymes has always been hard.

Words have always been the beat to my heart,
Keyboard clicks are music to my ears,
Writing has been there for me since the start.

Words have always been the beat to my heart,
It was my first love and probably will be my last,
Words and I can't ever be apart.

Since words have always been the beat to my heart,
My dream occupation,
Dedication,
Motivation,
Is writing words.

Books are my lifeline, all I can possibly do,
To be able to affect people like me and you,
To be able to make people smile or cry,
Make people laugh or sigh,
That is why I want to be an author.

Being an author will give me an opportunity to speak the truth,
Speak for the elderly and the youth,
Speak of lives that are too good to be true, lives that are too difficult to go through.

I can speak about anything because words have always been the beat to my heart.

Being an author would change my life because I can change the lives of others,
Change the lives of teenagers,
Of single mothers,
Of officials,
Of sport players.

Being an author would change my life because I'd get to be with my love everyday,
I'll never have to work but rather play,
I won't feel like I'm struggling or that I'm not smart,
Because I know I'm doing everything right since words have always been the beat to my heart.
