Strollin' in the 50's
Strollin’ in the 50’s
With my black and whites on,
Bobby socks over my ankles,
Pink poodle skirt raised over my waist,
White button up shirt tucked in,
Wearing my favorite pink stylish glasses,
And my hair tied back in a ponytail.
Strollin’ in the 50’s
Watching the “bombs” cruising by
Playing that beautiful song
That I have become very familiar with.
With their grill shining in the sun and
Perfect candy colors that can be spotted from a mile away,
Those are the kind of cars that I cherish the most.
Strollin’ in the 50’s
Going out to the Drive-In every Friday night,
Watching James Dean, Marilyn Monroe and Audrey Hepburn
Shine in the spotlight.
Strollin’ in the 50’s
Dancing the Swing to Doo- Wops
At school dances on weekends.
Rocking around the clock to Bill Haley and His Comets and
Listening to “The King”
At our famous dance-offs in the park.
Strollin’ in the 50’s
Going to the downtown diner
Enjoying a perfectly mixed strawberry shake,
A “real” hamburger with everything on it,
And a soda pop all for $1.25.
These have become the memories of my youth.
Strollin’ in the 50’s forever!
