Strong With Voice, Not Muscle
Staying strong no matter what. The hardest thing to do. But it's important. How else would you survive. What's stronger. You ask. The force in your arms. Or the power from your tongue. What makes you feel better. You ask. The sweat from your brow. Or the movement from your words. Voices out there. All from different people. In different speakers and times. All trying to say the same thing. No one bothers to listen. Why listen they say. When you can speak out. They say. Among all other voices. Tryin' to pull me around. My voice rose up before I did. I didn't go back down. I found you. In my quietest moments. Because this time. Words speak louder than actions. The more I think though. The more I know. I didn't find my voice. It found me. My voice found me in my weakest moments. Made me stronger from my weakest times. My voice is mine. Not yours to have. Try to cover it all you want. You can't drown out the sound. Stronger it made me. The louder I spoke it. Use your voice they said. When you had nothing left they said. Note: I found this scholarship from PowerPoetry.org
