A Strong Word, A Weak Mind
Love is a strong word
To love someone is to communicate
To have trust
To compromise
I cannot properly articulate my thoughts
Or my feelings
Or anything
Not very well anyway
And I have little trust in anyone
I'm so afraid of everyone
I constantly remind myself
That I always have to hide myself
So no one can take advantage of me
Or my weaknesses
So I do not love
I cannot truly love
But with whatever twisted version of love that I have
I love you
Just like the moon loves the night
And the sun loves the bright
And the moth loves the light
And the bird loves the flight
I love you
But it's hard sometimes
When you yell
And I cry
And you tell me that you've
Tried to make yourself better
But you don't
You keep blaming me
Telling me that it's my
Faulty way of loving that makes you like this
But damn it all
I still love you
Through all the shit
And all the fights
And all the tears
And the restless nights
When all we want is to get some sleep
I still love you
And I try to tell myself
To convince myself
That this isn't healthy
That this is not right
That I have to worry for my own sanity
Instead of yours
But it never works
And I keep finding reasons to stay
It's been ten months
Ten great months with someone
Who loves me unconditionally
An ally who's there for me
More often than not
But slips up sometimes
And I want to slip away
From everything
And recluse myself
Excusing myself from society's
Expectations of love
But I don't
Because I love you
For God's sake, I love you
And love is such a strong word
For someone with such a weak mind
Like me
