Stronger

So far up we stood Looking down on where we used to be. It was a perfect, carefree spot that left us— Or at least me, With this sense of peace. But all of the sudden, Everything came crashing down. Tears filled my eyes as I rushed towards the ground. All my weight pounded down At one point. Breaking the bone. The pain felt unbearable— As if my brokenness could not be fixed. You feel as if you’ll never get through the suffering, Like the pain was forever replacing the peace we— Or I, once felt. Of course, it’s not a clean break, But in order for it to heal properly, it must be. Once broken completely— One part of the bone from the other, It can heal. Although this step is much more painful Than the original break itself, The bone is now where it needs to be To take the steps needed Towards recovery. It’s not an automatic process, Like many things, it takes time. But the bone slowly reattaches itself Back together Again. This time producing an extra layer of calcium— Strength— Making it almost impossible To be broken in the same place Again. Finally, The bone is healed. Almost as good as new— But better. Stronger.
