The Struggle
The struggle isn't always about trying to make it out
Its not about trying to get through hardships by taking the safer route
The struggle for me is everyday of my life
Taking a test not knowing if my answers are wrong or right
Sometimes I just want to lay over and start heading for the light
But I have to keep going every day and night
The struggle for me is knowing my father won't come back
Knowing that he doesn't love me, and I have to accept that
The struggle for me is knowing that I can't get into college with low grades
Im sorry momma but I just can't get A's
I try so hard to get through simple school days
That I just lose focus and start to think about my next pair of J's
The struggle of me is knowing that I wont start
Because at heart
I know that baseball is my art
The struggle for me is knowing that my grandma is dying
Each night hearing her pain and Im in the other room crying
The struggle for me is people believing that I am not black because I live in a white neighborhood
Now what's wrong with that?
Just because a black man has the income to live in a white community means that the man isnt black and can't enjoy the oppurtunity?
The struggle for me is hearing racism everywhere I go
But I dont say anything because I know
That whatever I say, they will say something racist back and I dont feel like hearing that you know?
The struggle for me is just everything going on
But I face it everyday and tell myself to just "move along"
Something wrong with this poem?
