The Struggle
The Struggle
To everyone,
Do you know the struggle?
The struggle of living in foster care
The struggle of being mixed mexican and white
I hate half of myself
And love the other half
Constantly denying part of myself cause im ashamed
You think I would belong with both
Whites and mexicans
I dont belong with whites cause I grew up poor
I like spicy food and speak spanglish
I have mexican traditions
And i don't understand white privilege
I do belong more with mexicans
but i'm light skinned
My spanish is not perfect
I hate that i'm half white
Makes me sick to my stomach
If you ask I say i am full mexican
But it is a lie
I feel more comfortable with mexicans
I visit TJ a lot
But i always remember that theirs that white part in me
And i hate it
Do you know the struggle?
Struggle of being abused
Struggle of moving from home to home
Struggle of never belonging anywhere
The struggle of not having either of your parent
I could write a book on all my struggles
And that's okay
My Struggles are what made me who I am
I hate that I had to struggle
But i love who they made me today
I would never change my struggles
But I still would never wish them on someone else
