The Struggle

Shame, disgust, Frustration and confusion Are all things I feel Or is that just an illusion Feeling suffocated and overwhelmed On a daily bases Crushed by a tidal wave of expectations By familiar faces. The never ceasing comparisons Between he and I Internally battling endlessly To just be as good as this awesome guy Success is everywhere At times engulfing me whole How does one top that When not knowing which direction to go At first, crystal clear goals But over time, beginning to deteriorate What am I to do now That my grip on life is beginning to incinerate Completely and totally oblivious To what my future holds Discovered an unexpected phobia For the terrifying and nerve racking untold The intoxicating façade of success Can be extremely confusing When there are so many success stories Not sure which I should be choosing The tragic flaw of the lack of will power And more importantly, self motivation I fear it will eventually bring My ultimate misfortune Struggling hard to find any release Am only left with the weight of disappointment How, oh how does one break free To possess this universal achievement The seemingly permanent barrier Unwaveringly strong Prevents any advancement or progression On my journey to success, where I know I belong Surrounded by love and encouragement By none other than the best family I know I can break through this barrier And become the success I was BORN to be.
