The Struggle of Optimism

Tue, 10/18/2016 - 22:33 -- danig59

Pessimism creeped through every crevice of my soul

constantly my head was down negativity had a hold,

My mind was a whirlwind of emotions

spiraling so deep as if I conceived the ocean,

Just as I was about to drown something pulled me up

at first it was foreign so I was eager to learn more

what even had the strength to pull me up ashore.

It came with brown eyes, no lies, and blue skies

long walks, one sided talks but still just as effective

that energy that wasn't me begins to flee but my liberator has none.

My darkness transforms to bliss

the moment my cheek is licked wet with a kiss,

My mouth cannot close my teeth fully exposed

as my lips become one with my ears.

My tears were once the victims of pain but

now they are the product of joy,

He came to warm me and to warn me

sometimes my optimism will fade

However, life's all about balance outcomes are limitless and boundless

it took a hero on all fours to bring me ashore

pretty hard to fathom.
