The Struggles of A Gay Person
If I am mental ill let it be,
I rather am ill than not loved,
If I am sick let there be no cure,
If I am completely insane,
I had no sanity, to begin with.
I tell you to love the world,
To love others as they are,
Not to the standards of the one above.
I am here and now,
But I was deemed by you insane.
I rather than be,
Who are you to tell me my life,
And the love that I have is sickening.
Who are you to judge me for the love that I share,
For them.
This feeling is the one of kind,
Nothing else will make me feel whole.
This love is something one of kind,
Come here and do what you can to stop me.
Stick those needles into my arms,
Pump the chemicals to my brain,
Put the paddles to my head,
That will blow me away or cure me of this “sickness”,
Take the memories that I will gladly give to you,
They’ll be of the times of where I would’ve died,
Where I have hit rock bottom,
To where I have met with the bad parts of myself,
To have comeback to improve and strive to be myself,
To where I looked at death himself and came back.
The love I have for my lover might be forbidden,
I rather die than to live in the cruel world,
That denies me of the love that I have.
I hate talking about my lover in silence,
To keep those words between my lips as cages,
Like the one I was once in,
To be freed is to speak and act,
To be do nothing is to be a slave,
To the world that denies me of love.
I fight for my country but can’t speak freely of my love,
For it to stay hidden,
Like the truth that of the world,
Is that we hate the idea of a different kind of love.
I fight the this war on two fronts,
One with activism which I can’t publicly display,
While on another front I fight for the freedom for everybody else,
Even though I am denied a freedom of love.
