Stuck Behind

You stand there Feet stuck to the ground, people pass you by Where’s your sound now? Where is your voice, the beautiful light that shone forth from your throat Shedding itself upon the ears of others in need Once your river ran wide Once your mountain stood tall But you are now lost in the simple movement Of a small stream, sitting idly by its side When instead you should be sprinting towards the loud falls just ahead, just beyond the curve… You once had a dream to reach that place, but no more. Why are you beaten down? Why do you REFUSE to stand any way but crooked, head bowed low, back twisted, bent under the strain What? Is there no one to lead you anymore? Is there no guiding star to set you straight? But you forget, there never was in the first place. It was always your own light igniting the way for others… You stand there, head bowed to the ground. What are you searching for? Why can you no longer find it within yourself?
