Stuck Inside of Me

I utter a deep sigh as I see a picture of myself unfolding
The same I old patterns I see myself repeating
I’m not always so beautiful or wonderful you see
Sometimes there’s an ugly part of me
My feelings run deep, my thoughts never turn off
I project a hard, tough, outside, yet inside I’m soft
I try to fall asleep but am left tossing and turning on my pillow
And then I end up rolled up in a ball like an armadillo
I try to escape myself but I’m stuck inside of me
And in those moments, as lonely as I am, I still tell people to just let me be
