The Student

I am a student.

I get up every day at five thirty in the morning to be a student.

With chemistry at seven a.m. and orchestra until five.

I am a student... a full time student.

I am a student.

I drag myself through the high school halls.

I slam locker doors.

I sass my teachers.

I am a student.... a teenage student.

I am a student.

I hate school.

but I have an unbreakable desire to be educated.

I have big dreams.

Not all of which can come true.

I am a student.... a student with high hopes for a future she can almost see.
