Stupid, Wise, and Young

Tell me what to do.

If I need it.

If not,

Then let me be.

Tell me to grow faster,

Or get more sunlight,

Or make sure my roots are

Solid in the ground.

Don't tell me how to

Sit here, on this balcony ledge,

And soak up the sun.

Don't tell me how I can

"improve" the color of my

Petals.

I like them just how they are.

I don't need you to

Tell me that I'm

Not the most beautiful flower on the block.

I know that. But you don't have to tell me.

I will be the flower

I want to be.

You may love me,

Or you may hate me.

But I will

Always be here,

On this ledge, waiting for you

To hand me a drink.
