Substance Abuse (10/16/11)

Turns a man into a murderer, A kid into a killer, A couple of doses, Turns boredom into a thriller. Makes monsters come out at night, Good times smothered by fright New beings are created, No action or thought is hesitated Families broken apart Innocents left with disintegrated hearts Blood boiling off the charts I knew things would be different, right from the start Drunken words, sober thoughts, Fighting heard, fear is brought People taught, to look away, And are penalized for the help they sought. Substance Abuse, Always causing a new excuse I need another hit another sip, I’m not drunk, all I did was trip Getting clean is a necessity, You need to get rid of this bad entity Trace your steps, find your misplaced identity Cause you know, you are your own enemy Holdin’ the bottle, your eyes fixated on the label, You wanna let go, look away, but you’re unable Hold me in your arms, I’m desperate to cradle The substance took your money, Couldn’t pay the cable You must overcome this craving, Before it consumes, Something goes missing, people start to assume Don’t give them that satisfaction, Take a mugshot, “sorry excuse for a human” written as your caption Split your life into pieces, Substance abuse is more than a faction Get clean, put this plan into action
