Subtle Death

In darkness he waits,

As they draw their last breaths

Lives wasted,

Dancing towards the flaming stars,

On bloody breath,

Soon he will emerge,

To take tally of the dead,

And send their souls to where they belong.

Soundless prayers fill the night,

As they beg to the gods,

Friend and foe lie side by side,

Waiting and begging for that darkness to take them.

This world is cruel,

And they have to wait,

For the darkness must move one at a time,

Judging and weighing those scarred souls,

He sends them away to their end.
