Subtle Indifference
Like ashes stacked in a jar of indifference
tightly capped to mask a stench so cruel
from cigarette butts worth riddance-
you caused me self decay and dismal.
You put me out like those cigarettes
in an ashtray of cares killed in a duel.
You poured your alibis, like prudence-
and fading sentiment into a bottle.
Then like sediments your true colors-
settled showing who you really are a devil!
So I stirred your heart’s murky absence-
to my presence crashing away like a cymbal.
Doing what’s best for me just this once-
made me smile like a child enjoying a dandle.
See, I thought I was making a difference-
by trying to find us a cul.
I now know you lack the valence
for bonding but am OK with null.
So darling spare me the parlance
you take your jar and I will cap this bottle.
Who knew keeping distance-
can make indifference so subtle?
