Success Over All
“Success is all I’ll need” I said
A foolish thought indeed.
“You’ll make it their, just keep your head
And never lose the lead.”
I strived
I battled
I fought
And won.
I never knew love
From anyone.
Nor joy
Nor pride
Nor compassion
Nor glee.
No one but myself,
Whom I tried to please.
“Success is all there is” I’d declare
“Accumulate to win.”
Now I’m alone, with wealth to spare
Wishing to start again.
