Sudden

It didn't have to be that way

It's sad that it is

I wish something could have been different

That something could have been changed

Is it my fault?

Did I not try?

Could I have possibly saved you?

I have no idea

If I could have stopped your ending

Maybe it wouldn't have been so sudden.

Hello! My name is Vanessa, I am an 18 year old high school senior from Austin, TX. I am about to graduate from Manor New Technology High School and then go to college as a bio major at Texas A&M at College station. I have been writing poetry since middle school as a way to let out emotion and express myself. My sophomore year of high school is when I really discovered myself as a writer when I got put into a Creative Writing class with an amazing teacher and mentor, Richard Santos. This class was the greatest thing to ever happen to me, I grew as a writer and opened up more as a person. Before that class I was just a shy high schooler with little friends, I was pushed to open up and be more creative by not only the classmates (all upperclassmen) but the teacher as well. My writing really grew a lot. What I have submitted is a small collection of poetry that I am really proud of and hope you enjoy!
