sugar

Fri, 03/02/2018 - 08:01 -- puffin

Life is coffee.
Dark, bitter, sallow.
Each new sight I see
Makes me feel callow.
Yet it'll get me through this.
Today it grants me energy.
It'll dissipate lethargy,
So I will accept it as it is.
But when you come along,
I taste something more.
The bitterness is gone,
And life is sweet to the core.
My limited days are motivating,
My brief time is a shame.
But your presence is accentuating
To this moment that's otherwise lame.
You are free,
You are gentle,
And you are monumental.
You are the sugar in my coffee.
