The Suitcase

Staring at an open suitcase,

A half empty closet a few feet away,

Clothes sitting beside the suitcase.

As much as she wants to pack,

Her heart holds her back.

Tears on the verge of flowing,

The look in his eyes begging her not to go,

She avoids eye contact,

As much as wants to leave,

Her heart is begging her to stay,

While her head is telling her to leave.

She wants to fight,

She wants to work at it,

But her fight is tired,

And her strength is weak.

Staring at the open suitcase,

Just one move and everything changes.

Staying will make her more tired

Leaving will have strength she does not have.

Is it worth it?

To stay when you’re not happy.

To feel like you have no more fight?

Is staying better than leaving?

Is leaving better than staying?
