Summer

Tik-tok

The time goes by

Tik-tok

The sun goes down

Yet all I’m left with is the same frown

Mom just had surgery

Why is it all we’re feeling is worry?

Stress, disappointment, sorrow-

Is there any happiness I can borrow?

This is supposed to be summer.

Being outside and having fun like no other.

Yet I’m trapped in the very bubble I blew.

Why is sadness the only feeling I can latch to?

I’m tired of feeling this way-

Not being able to experience summer breezes blow me away.

Being and feeling alone at night.

Longing for a taste of real life.

Having no choice but to imagine somewhere I can go,

Far, far away, somewhere unknown.

Yes I may be 13,

But all I have yet to be-

Is happy

I want to be able to laugh without feeling empty

I want to prosper and feel lively

Why is it I get the opposite?

Leaving nothing but the convincing feeling that I’ll be okay in a bit.
