Summer

It smells like summer Of the suntan lotion smeared on bodies White glimpses visible The oily sheen left behind The sun smiling down Warming my back The soft breeze Welcomed Blowing in gentle curls across my face The puffy clouds filling the sky A sky so blue you could swim in it Drifting, rolling, tumbling In a white bliss so clean The grass prickling your back Itchy but uncaring Enjoying the moment Barbecue filling the air Burned and charred Hamburger grease coats your Fingertips, sticky corn Kernels glued to your face Lemonade souring your mouth Refreshing in an ice cold glass As you sit in the sun Your best friend beside you Shorts, flip flops Waiting for the tank tops Unable to concentrate, school is boring The window is captivating Enticing you Revealing the beautiful day Longing for Sunshine Needing to go out and Feel The air upon your skin The grass between your toes The heat on your face It smells like summer.
