Summer with Artificial Heat

The heat of summer,

Surrounded my house like a boa constrictor.

Tightening at each dawn and twilight.

The gentle wind's that stir from the mountain's

Were blocked off from the power of the snake.

My house,

Was seething on the inside, and

Boiling on the outside.

Through the living room waves of reality,

Could be conveyed,

As the temperature bended reality.

Glittering fabricated water could be seen,

Right through the Kitchen window.

It looked so real.

As if I could walk right outside, and

Take a dip in the miniature pond.

But walking outside would be, like

Walking into a microwave, and being radiated alive.

Sun was so bright that to find a shadow,

Would be like trying to get close to royalty.

Only the power of a swaying clipboard

Kept my brain safe from the waves of summer.

A clipboard and of course,

A gallon of cold water.
