SUMMER CLASS

Hot dogs steamed in champagne,
The festive season teased into summer
And wrapped in a bun
Wisely seasoned with
Sumac and caraway.
Yes, Gatsby, too, would give his approval
As he toasted the light
At the very end of his peer
Where time itself squints in
A close-out tribute to the worn charms of summer.

(As we're still in the hot embrace of the summer season, I thought I would
share this playful poem about the last weeks of that season.)
