Summer job blues

After searching far and wide

I found out there was nowhere to hide

Getting a job in the middle of summer

Turned out to be quite a bummer

I couldn’t stay up late

I couldn’t hang with my mate

I had to work off the sweat

Of the time I came to regret

In my youth when I was young and free

Playing outside under a tree

I thought I didn’t make the most of the time

That came and passed like the flip of a dime

Even though my job is hell

My youth I enjoyed very well

I meditated in the great

The things I did that I could never hate

Like family, friends, and all the time

That I will never forget, even when scrubbing up grease and grime
