Summer Time

Looking back on the past long summer days

I miss them.

I miss the smell of flowers, the sound of music, and the sandy beaches.

I love the feeling of blazing hot sand,

Seeping between my toes as I dash towards the water.

The sound of the waves crashing reminds me of happiness.

The sound of children laughing reassures me of that happiness.

The openness makes me feel like i'm free,

Free like a bird flying on and on forever.

Shopping until my legs fall off,

Walking the beach until the sun fades away into darkness,

Jumping over the waves, trying not to fall down.

Those days,

In my mind

Are pretty close to perfect.

Summer vacations to Florida are heaven to me,

Heaven that only comes once a year.

But, that's good enough, right?

You see, I wish that I lived on the coast!

I wish

I really do wish.
