Summer's Love

Here I stand waiting

Like a nervous child on the first day of break

I’m here listening,

Watching you yell as a summer thunderstorm

We used to dance

Like petals in clear, cool water

And run in the cool green grass

Like rabbits through endless fields

But now our love is turning

Like pinwheels in the wind

Voices are whispering

Like dandelions in the breeze

And now we will scatter

Like small animals in the bright trees

Blooming like soft red roses

Full and bright

You shall find another love

And I shall find the ocean’s water

Expanding ever slowly

Breathing in the summer air

We both will move on

Going along like leaves in a cool creek

And love will find us again

Opening like a hidden path in the trees
